Utusan Melayu

Client: Utusan Melayu (Malaysia) Berhad

Client's business sector: Newspaper publishing - Kumpulan Utusan (The Utusan Group) was incorporated in 1938 in Singapore as Utusan Melayu Press Limited. The first newspaper, Utusan Melayu, was launched on 29th May 1939. Presently, Utusan publishes four major products namely, Utusan Malaysia, Mingguan Malaysia, Kosmo! and Kosmo! Ahad.

Country: Malaysia

Challenge: The Utusan Group contracted the services of M&C Energy Group as an independent consulting firm specialising in energy management, to identify areas where they could make savings on energy consumption and improvements on cost efficiency.

M&C Energy Group's Strategy: To thoroughly audit and analyse Utusan Melayu's historical utilities bills in order to identify any areas of potential saving, using M&C Energy Group's in-depth intelligence.

Result: Nicole Tan, M&C Energy Group's Senior Energy and Environmental Analyst, has identified and implemented a number of recommendations to reduce energy consumption as well as negotiating savings on electricity tariffs resulting in savings of RM200K per annum.
